David E. Negris, age 85, a resident of Fairview Village in Downers Grove, and formerly of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, died Sunday, October 8th at Fairview Baptist Home. He was born in New York City on December 18, 1920 to Edward and Elsie Negris.
During WWII he served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy. He was a member of the Millington Baptist Church in New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred, two daughters, Janet Streem of Wheaton and Carol (Mark) Kerk of Goshen, IN, five grandchildren, Eric (JoAnn) Streem, Brian (Lindsay) Streem of Chicago, Matthew Streem of Wheaton, David Kerk of Elkhart, IN, and Sharon Kerk of Goshen, IN, one brother, Raymond (Ruth) Negris of Wheaton and one sister, Elsie (John) Blackie of MA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel at Fairview Baptist Home, 250 Village Dr. in Downers Grove. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Joliet, Illinois.
