David E. Mielke, age 78, a resident of Glendale Heights, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. He was born January 17, 1943 in Tracy, Minnesota to Elmer & Neva Mielke.

Dave grew up in Tracy, Minnesota and entered the Marine Corps following high school. He went to Concordia Teacher's College in River Forest, IL where he completed his teaching degree and met his future wife Carol Reis. Dave & Carol settled in Glendale Heights where they raised their three children. He taught multiple subjects and grade levels at Elmwood Park Schools. After retirement, he volunteered his time at Highpoint Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Wheaton). In later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol; his children Susan Mielke, Paul (Rose) Mielke & Steve (Kelly) Mielke; his eight grandchildren; and his sisters Janet (Jim) Sabinske & Joan (Dennis) Johnson.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 , from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL . A funeral service will be held at Highpoint Church, 1310 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL on Saturday, August 28, 2021 , at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
