David Spencer Martin, age 66, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away with his loving wife, Bonnie and sister-in-law, Susie at his side at Central DuPage Hospital on Friday, August 12, 2016. He was born on August 1, 1950 in Chicago. His family moved to Elmhurst when he was about 13 years old.
David and Bonnie were married in 1982, having been together since 1971. David graduated from North Central College in 1984 with a degree in Psychology. That same year David and Bonnie bought their home in Wheaton. David worked for W. W. Grainger for 37 years.
David enjoyed spelunking (cave exploring) as a young man. He loved hunting pheasants (starting at age 11) and later ruffed grouse. In the 1980's, he became involved with training bird dogs (English Setters and Gordon Setters) for field trails. He was a prolific reader, loved the out-of-doors and conversing with people. He was a life time member of the National Speleological Society and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, his sister, Nancy Martin, brother, Nelson Martin, and his nephew. He is also survived by sisters-in-laws, Marlene Anderson, Nancy Banks, and Carole Hess, brothers-in-law, Bill Bolton, and Al Bolton, and many in-law nieces and nephews and by Katie, the current family bird dog.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Trout Creek Cemetery in Trout Creek Michigan.
