David A. Fischer, age 82, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Monday, September 24, 2018, at DuPage Care Center in Wheaton, IL.
Arvin William Fischer and Hedwig Francis Datz gave birth on May 17th, 1936 in Elmhurst, IL to their only child David Allen Fischer. After growing up on the family farm, he entered the U.S. Army. On tour in Germany he developed his passion for broadcasting, which upon returning to the U.S. brought him to his job at Korvettes, where he met the love of his life Kathleen Marie Ferro. Together they brought seven children into the world: Daniel Allen, Sandra Jean, Tammy Lynn, Victoria Marie, Theresa Michelle, James Bradley, and Matthew David.
He furthered his broadcasting career with WRMN Elgin, WLAK Chicago, and finally at WKKD Aurora. He had many devoted fans to which he dedicated himself for over 30 years. In retirement he focused on his family as well as his life-long love of photography. He was an audiophile, loved Classical and Jazz music, and enjoyed watching movies.
After moving to the DuPage Care Center, he found a whole new community of friends of whom will also miss him greatly, as will his family. We will love and miss him with all our hearts.
He is survived by his beloved children, Daniel Allen and Anna Fischer, Sandra Jean and Paul Pickrell, Tammy Lynn and Scott Shelley, Victoria Marie and Charles Tunk, Theresa Michelle Ferro, James Bradley Ferro, and Matthew David Ferro; his grandchildren, Jonathon David, Lindsey Marie, Asia Nicole, Matthew Armond, Skyler Berlin, Allison D'Anna, Aurora Susan, Alexa Jean, Aliza Jane and Wyatt Emory; and his great-grandchildren, Roy Eugene Jr., Logan Charles, Owen James, Avery Lynn, Addison Bailey and Jack Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvin William Fischer and Hedwig Francis Datz; and his beloved grandson Dustin Edward Tunk.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of a funeral service to be held at 12:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, IL.
