David Tze-Chun
Chiang
April 20, 1927 – December 7, 2020
David Tze-Chun Chiang, age 93, a resident of Belmont Village in Carol Stream, Illinois, passed away December 7, 2020, surrounded by his immediate family. He was born in Yiwu, Zhejiang, China, on April 20, 1927, to Sz Chin Chiang and Shou Chin Chen.
David met his wife Grace Chien-Teh (Lin) at a church in Taipei, and they were married on November, 1957. He served under President Chiang Kai Shek as a Colonel in the Nationalist Army and was the Chairman of the Department of Radiology and Radiation Oncology at the National Defense Medical Center where he was a pioneer in his field and served many patients. He sacrificed a successful medical career in Taiwan and moved to the United States with the hope of giving his sons more opportunities. After immigrating to the US in 1975, he worked as a Radiation Oncologist in both Chicago and Ohio. David and his family attended LaGrange Bible Church in LaGrange, Illinois, where Pastor and Mrs. Hovey helped them settle in America and grow in their faith. David was later a member of the Chinese Christian Mandarin Church in Willowbrook, IL. He lived many years in Western Springs, IL before retiring to Burr Ridge, IL, and later Carol Stream, IL.
David loved spending time with his wife and family. He savored cooking with his wife where they prepared many delicious Chinese meals for family and friends. In early retirement he enjoyed gardening and traveling throughout North America and overseas with his wife and dear friends from church. He later appreciated walking in his community, being outdoors catching the sun, and just sitting next to his wife of 63 years.
David is survived by his wife Grace, his sons James (Judy), and Paul (Marsha), and six grandchildren: Jonathan, Caleb (Sara), Melody, Joshua, Joel, and Annagrace.
There will be a private memorial service and burial at Wheaton Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Chinese Christian Mandarin Church of Willowbrook, IL.
