Daryl R. Gabel, resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the age of 70, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on February 21, 1953 to Robert and Mercedes Gabel, Daryl leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and resilience.

Born and raised in Pottstown, PA, Daryl completed his education, graduating from Pottstown High School before embarking on a career. He began his professional life at Uniform Tubes, where his commitment and diligence saw him eventually promoted to the Midwest region, settling with his family in Wheaton, IL where he built a life rich in love and community. Daryl was a proud and active participant in his children's sporting pursuits, leading many teams to championships and later continuing to passionately cheer on his grandchildren from the sidelines.

Upon his retirement from sales, Daryl marked a new chapter in his life—one where he partnered with his wife, working together to foster a nurturing environment in their home daycare. Through this venture, they made an impact on the lives of countless children and families, leaving a lasting mark on the community.

Known for his quick wit and jovial spirit, Daryl was a beacon of joy within his family. His devotion to his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, was unparalleled. His unwavering support and love for his wife stood as a testament to the depth of his character and the strength of their unbreakable bond.

Throughout his life, Daryl faced numerous health challenges, displaying incredible courage in overcoming each obstacle. Recently diagnosed with cancer, he faced this final battle with the same determination and resilience that defined his entire existence.

A man of strong principles and an unyielding work ethic, Daryl leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond his professional and personal accomplishments. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a steadfast commitment to family. Daryl will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.


He is survived by his wife, Sandi Gabel, 4 children, Bree (Than) Grayson of Channahon, Brandon (Adrianne) Gabel of Carol Stream, Bethany (Justin) Morrison of Batavia, and Brogen (Jenny) Gabel of Wheaton, 8 grandchildren, Mike, Abbie, Zach, Mayzie, Henry, Emmett, Ella, and Mason, and his sisters, Robin Reigner and Kim Motto.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Howard and Irene Bedell, brother-in-law Wilson Bedell and niece Susan Babyak.
