Darwin V. Adams, age 84, a longtime resident of Steamwood, IL, went to be with his Lord, suddenly on Friday, January 18, 2019, at home. He was born November 14, 1934 in Albion, Michigan to Darwin and Thelma Adams.
Darwin grew up in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1953. He went on to graduate from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where he met Annette Medendorp and they were married on July 6, 1957. He was a Juvenile Detective with the Streamwood Police Department from 1963 until 1998.
He served on the Streamwood Library Board, the Mental Health Board, and the CAC Board. In 1988, he founded the Children's Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County, where he served on the board. His faith was an important part of his life and he was an active member of Village Church in Barrington, where he served on the board. He also volunteered with Youth For Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Adams, two daughters, Cynthia (Philip) Fisk and Charity (Randy) McCafferty, his grandchildren, Ashley (David) Feister, Zachary (Aubrey) Fisk, Jonathan (Fabia) Fisk, Caileigh McCafferty, April Vasilatos Little, David(Jenna) McCafferty, Jill, (Stan) McCafferty Gradomski and William (Grace) McCafferty, great-grandchildren, Micah, Aleithea, Ezra Feister, Adeline Fisk, Trevor, Cody, Megan, Chandler, Ashton, Brayden, Liliyana, Ella, Bryce, Ian, and Emmy, three siblings, Wayne Adams, Carl Adams and Jane Hunt and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Darwin & Thelma and three siblings, Bill, John and Jean.
A funeral service will be held at Village Church of Barrington, 1600 E. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010 at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019.
