Daniel F. Tomanica, age 67, a 26 year resident of Wheaton, IL, died suddenly on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born February 24, 1945 in Lansing, Michigan.
Dan grew up in Lansing, Michigan, where he graduated high school. He served in the US Army in Viet Nam in 1968 and 1969 and earned the Bronze Star. After he returned from the service he completed his degree in Accounting from Western Michigan University. He worked as a Revenue Agent for the IRS for 32 years and retired in 2001.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially birds and astronomy. His love of computers continued in his retirement years. He was especially proud of his accomplishment completing the genealogy of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Tomanica, one sister, Nancy Tomanica of Lansing, MI, sister-in-law, Carole (John) Dansdill of Palatine, IL, brother-in-law, Robert Ptack of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Joseph Tomanica in 1994 and Clara Alice Karber Tomanica in 1997 and his sister, Sharon in 1943.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N Main St., Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at Tiffany Funeral Home in Lansing, Michigan. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing, Michigan.
