Obituary

Daniel C. Poormon, age 67, a resident of Winfield, Illinois, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born November 28, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Richard Poormon and the late Smitty Einwalter.

Dan moved to Wheaton, Illinois in seventh grade and was part of the first graduating class of Wheaton North High School in 1967. In 1969, he was drafted into the Army and bravely served his country fighting in Vietnam. After returning home, he was later diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a result of Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam. The radiation treatments he received contributed to his lifelong health challenges.

Despite his health, Dan embraced life and was a constant inspiration to all who knew him. He was a humble, giving man who lived each day with grace and dignity. Throughout his life he was passionate about sports and loved to play and watch basketball and tennis. Riding motorcycles and traveling also gave him great pleasure. Dan was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, cousin, uncle and dear friend. His incredible goodness, compassion for others, and caring spirit, represent the enduring legacy that we will continue to remember and celebrate.

He is survived by his wife Barb, his son Grant (Anne), grandson Glenn, sisters Jan (Glenn) Ohlson and Lee Ann (Doug) Narup, nieces Kara (Kasey) Klaas, Dana Ohlson, and Anna Ohlson.

Dan was preceded in death by his son, Marc.
