Obituary

Daniel E. Keck, age 64, a resident of Winfield, IL, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born March 23, 1950 in Greenville, PA.

Daniel was a retired business professional. He was the Director of the Men's Chorus and other choirs at Gary Methodist Church in Wheaton, IL. While at Gary Church he directed the Habitat for Humanity program and also volunteered in a number of other capacities over his 39 years as a member. He was a retired Lieutenant and EMT for the Winfield Fire Protection District where he served for 30 years. He was an elected member of the Winfield Fire Protection District Board of Trustees where he served as Treasurer and also as Treasurer of the District's Pension fund. He served on the executive board of DuComm. He was also the first President of the DuPage Fire District Trustee Association. He was the Chairperson of the Winfield Plan Commission. He had served as secretary of the Winfield Chamber of Commerce for many years. Dan was an active father and coached many sports for his children. He was also the Score Keeper at West Chicago Community High School Basketball program. He was an Eagle Scout and served as the Cub Master at Pack 575 in Winfield. He worked with SCARCE, Willowbrook Wildlife Haven Foundation and the Youth Ministries at Gary Church as an Auctioneer/Fund Raiser. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Wheaton.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy; two children, Dianne (Ray) Weaver of North Fayette Township, PA, and Charlie Keck of Winfield, IL; his grandson, Chase Weaver; his sister, Martha Ann Jones of Jamestown, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 3-9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Gary United Methodist Church , 224 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be in Greenville, PA.
