Dallas L. McKnight, Jr., age 76, a resident of Knoxville, TN, died December 17, 2023.  He was born February 19, 1947 in Florence, SC to Dallas Sr. & Dorothy McKnight.

Dallas grew up in Knoxville, TN graduating from Bearden High School. While stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, he met his wife, Donna. After marrying in 1968, the couple returned to Knoxville where Dallas graduated from the University of Tennessee. Dallas was a long time resident of Asheville, NC where he had an accomplished career as a Special Agent in the IRS Criminal Investigation Division. He was involved in many important cases throughout the US during his career and received numerous awards for his exemplary work both as an undercover agent and investigator. He was very proud of his work and contribution to law enforcement.

A master storyteller, Dallas used this gift to build friendships and make connections with those around him. The spellbinding tales he shared were most often based on adventures from his childhood, his time as a special agent, and playing with his grandchildren.

Dallas had a wide range of interests which he enjoyed sharing with his beloved family. He particularly loved exploring the Montana countryside with his wife, sharing music and jokes with his daughter, and taking his grandchildren fishing and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Donna; his daughter Stacia (Doug) Johnston of Winfield, IL; and his grandchildren Georgia, Sterling & Dallas Johnston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held privately. A private burial was held at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.
