Dale A. Arahood, age 86, a resident of Wheaton for 48 years, died on Sunday, December 8, 2019. He was born August 11, 1933 in Flanagan, Illinois to Andrew and Margaret Arahood.
Dale grew up in the Flanagan area and graduated from Flanagan High School in 1951. After attending Knox College, he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Alaska. He went on to attend Columbia College and then earned a PhD. from Ohio State University. While at Ohio State he met Ardis Hare. They were married on August 31, 1968. Dale worked for IBM, First Chicago Bank, and for many years at Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte), retiring in 1998. He remained active in retirement starting Dale Arahood and Associates, where he wrote 16 technical books on banking and general industry.
He enjoyed working with his hands and travel with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Ardis, two children, Kate (David) Gassner of Hanover Park and Andrew Arahood of Los Angeles, one granddaughter, Brianna Gassner, and one sister, Mary Gronau of Pekin. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Paul Arahood and one sister, Alice Linn.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, from 9:30 to 11 am. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
