Cynthia K.
Wright
September 3, 1947 – June 11, 2019
Cynthia K. Wright, age 71, a resident of Bartlett, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2019. She was born September 3, 1947 in Springfield, Illinois to Robert and Doris Kopp.
In seventh grade the Kopp family moved to Divernon, Illinois where Cindy graduated from high school as class salutatorian in 1965. As a senior in high school, she was voted as Mardi Gras Queen. In the summer of 1969, Cindy graduated with a BS degree in education from Eastern Illinois University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. As an alumna, she held various officer positions in the DuPage Area Alumnae Club, including president. Cindy served the International Fraternity as a Province Director-Alumnae, Area Coordinator-Alumnae and Special Projects Coordinator. Cindy wore the Arc with Diamonds, an honor bestowed for her outstanding contributions to Alpha Gamma Delpha.
At EIU Cindy met Gary Wright and they were married March 9, 1969 in Springfield, Illinois. In her early career, Cindy taught home economics at East Peoria High School. She also taught in the Oak Park school system teaching home arts. In 1975, Cindy and Gary's son, Geoff, was born and Cindy stayed home for a few years to care for and raise Geoff in his early childhood. In 1985 she began to work as an instructional aide at Horizon School in Hanover Park. Most recently, she was a media center director at Marquardt Middle School in Glendale Heights, prior to her retirement.
Cindy was an avid reader who also enjoyed watching the old movies from the 1930's and 1940. She also loved music, her favority singer being Barry Manilow! She loved her many vacation trips with Gary to Door County, Wisconsin; walking the beach with good friends in Florida; and her many travels on behalf of Alpha Gamma Delta. Her greatest times of joy were those spent with her family. Cindy was a devoted mother to her son, Geoff and grandmother to Abigail and Jessica. Cindy and Gary became members of First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton in 1973. Throughout the 1970's, Cindy served the church as a volunteer in the office, and as a greeter on Sunday mornings.
The Wright family is very grateful for the loving care Cindy received from the dedicated staff at Autumn Leaves Memory Care in St. Charles, where she resided for the past two and a half years, and for the wonderful people of SOLACE Hospice who likewise showed such loving attention to Cindy. The love, care, attention and companionship given to Cindy by Alina, her in-home caregiver the year prior to moving to Autumn Leaves, will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gary Wright of Bartlett. Her son Geoff (Erica) Wright of DeKalb. Her granddaughters Abigail and Jessica. Her brother Mike (Marilyn) Kopp of Vandalia, Illinois. Cindy is also survived by her sisters-in-law Joan Melton and Susan (Jim) Beran and brothers-in-law Greg (Karen) Kremer, Bruce Kremer and Ron (Cristina) Kremer. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
