CYNTHIA ERICKSON OSLUND

October 6, 1936 – March 19, 2021

Cindy Oslund, age 84, a resident of Windsor Park, in Carol Stream, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday March 19 th and is now in heaven with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.  Cindy was born on October 6, 1936 in Detroit Michigan to Manfred and Martha Erickson.  She grew up in Wilmette, IL and later attended Wheaton College, Westmont College in  CA, eventually graduating with a teaching degree from National College of Education . She grew up in the Winnetka Bible Church and met Roger Oslund, the love of her life, on a blind date arranged by friends.  They later married while Roger finished his engineering degree at Northwestern University and Cindy taught 3 rd grade in Evanston, IL.  Cindy retired from teaching when their daughter Sheroll was born , soon followed by their son Jeffrey.  Some years later Cindy started working part time at the Wilmette Public Library where she eventually became the business manager and worked for over 20 years.

Cindy and Roger spent many happy years in Wilmette where they were active at Winnetka Bible Ch urch and had a wonderful group of frien ds. I n 1991 Roger was transferred to the Naperville AT&T campus and they moved to Wheaton where they found a new home and church  at Fellowship Community Church with a wonderful supportive small group.  After Roger died s uddenly in 2013 Cindy moved to Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream and enjoyed many visits with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Covid-19 pandemic was very difficult as visits were limited but she enjoyed Face-time calls , emails and in-person visits as allowed.  Most recently she was able to have in-person visits with her two children who were with her the day before she died.

Cindy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger Oslund, her parents Manfred and Martha Erickson, a sister Vivian Nimmo and brother Robert Erickson. She is survived by her brother David (Lisa ) Erickson, sister-in-law Barbara Erickson , her children Sheroll (Kevin) Ritchie and Jeffrey (Alison) Oslund; 8 grandchildren Faith (James) Waterman, Connor Ritchie, J.J. (Michelle) Oslund, Erika (Philip) Tuttle, Bridget (Trent) Tovsen, Zachary (Olivia) Oslund, Kiersten Oslund and Ingrid Oslund.  She was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren: Ian and Wesley Waterman, Annika and Owen Oslund, Ava and Jack Tuttle, Oliver Tovsen, and Rose Oslund.

A memorial service for Cindy will be on Wednesday March 24th at 11:00 am at Community Fellowship Church, in West Chicago. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to view a livestream of the service by clicking on the following link: Cindy Oslund Service .  Private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood Illinois.  Due to the current health challenges we ask that all attending the memorial service to please wear a mask inside the church. Additionally, seating will be distanced by family group.
