Crystal Knosp, age 92, a resident of Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center in Rockford, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 7. She was born on May 2, 1918 in Belle Plaine, Iowa to John and Cora Deerr.

Crystal graduated from Western Union College in LeMars, Iowa in 1941 with majors in economics and mathematics. She initially worked in the Federal Land Bank in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to Wheaton in 1959 after living for many years in her home town of Belle Plaine. Crystal worked in the accounting department of Scripture Press in Wheaton for over 20 years. She was active in Pleasant Hill Community Church and enjoyed reading, classical music, sewing, gardening, watching Cubs baseball, and being a grandmother. After retiring from Scripture Press in 1985, she moved to Fairhaven in 1995.

She is survived by a daughter, JoEllen Ross of Arlington, Virginia; a son, Gary (Carol) Knosp, of Wheaton; a brother, George Deerr of Brea, California; and three grandchildren; Laura Finch of Anderson, Indiana, Kristin Knosp of Wheaton, and Kevin Knosp of Wheaton. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Deerr, of Kansas City, Missouri, and a sister, Matilda Gordon of Marion, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Wheaton Christian Grammar School.
