Obituary

Craig O. Larson, age 81, a resident of Sun City in Huntley, and formerly a longtime resident of Itasca and West Chicago, died Monday, February 27, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born on April 13, 1924 in Nevada, Iowa to George Henry and Iva Cordelia Larson.

Craig grew up on a farm outside of Nevada. He attended Iowa State Teachers College in Ames until he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1944. He was a pilot of a B-24 Liberator in the Pacific Theater and commanded a crew of 24 officers and 36 enlisted men. Upon discharge, he returned to attend Drake University and graduated from the law school.

He moved to Wilmette, IL and worked for Sinclair for several years as an attorney. He established a practice in Naperville with a partner and then formed his own practice in Bloomingdale. He served various municipalities as City Attorney. He was a founding member of the Du Page County Prayer Breakfast Committee, was a member of the Lions Club of Itasca and the Christian Legal Society. He was a member of the Medinah Baptist Church and most recently the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.

Craig is survived by his wife Ferne. His 6 children are Karen (Glenn) Preuter of Highland, Craig Brian (Nancy) Larson of Arlington Heights, Diane (Jeff) Fulks of Springfield, MO, Mark Larson of Addison, Nancy (Tim) Peerson of Crete, and Elaine Larson of Lake Zurich, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived a brother, Ron Larson of FL and by Ferne's children, Lynne (Bob) Tosbey of Lake in the Hills, and Patrice (Cotton) Beal of Wheaton, and Ferne's 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna, his sister, Donna, and his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 2, at 2:30 pm at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 until the time of service.

Interment will be held privately at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
