Constance B. Lock, age 85, a resident of Glendale Heights, IL, died Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Lexington Health Care Center in Bloomingdale, Illinois. She was born June 22, 1928 in Chicago to William and Florence Cavert.
Connie grew up in Chicago near Wrigley Field and was active at Addison St. Baptist Church. In her late teens she lived in Hollywood, California with her aunt and uncle and developed a lifelong interest in movies. In 1946, she married Paul Lock. They moved to Silver Lake, Illinois where she continued to be active in her church, especially with youth groups. She loved hobbies, which led to the opening of "Hav-a-Hobby" hobby shop in Palatine in the late 1970's. While living in Glendale Heights, in the 80's she worked for Channel 38, WCFC, a christian broadcaster and was active in inner city youth ministry. In 1985, both her husband and her father passed away. She retired from Channel 38 to care for her mother. After her mother passed away, she enjoyed being a greeter at Walmart in Bloomingdale.
She attended the First Baptist Church of Wheaton. She loved art; painting, sculpture, drawing and music. She was anxious to help and care for others and served as a foster parent.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Terrence) Guiney of Glendale Heights, and Randy (Melissa) Lock of Elgin, two granddaughters, Alexandra and Claudia, her niece, Sherry (Richard) Jenson of Florida, and her nephew, John Schoenberger of Wheaton
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, Dolores Reynolds.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 10 until 11 am at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, at 1:00 p.m. in Cary, Illinois.
