Obituary

Clifford Llewellyn Hopkins, 97, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 3, 2021 in Wheaton.

Cliff was born in Springfield, IL. February 16, 1923 to Rev. Thomas Cleveland and Effie Carncross Hopkins. He spent his early years in Mauston, Wisconsin where his father pastored a church. He enjoyed his High School years in Glen Flora, Wisconsin where he had wonderful memories  playing on the High School basketball team. Cliff then served in the army during World War II primarily in Italy.  After the war he returned back to the states to study philosophy as an undergraduate at Wheaton College. It was during this time that he met Margie Swan on a blind date - little did they know that they would eventually be married. Cliff and Margie were wedded on August 13, 1955 and enjoyed over 65 years of marriage together.  Cliff was a devoted and loving husband faithfully serving his wife Margie over their many years together.

Cliff worked in the corporate tax field for most of his career serving Oliver Corporation and Osco Drug.  Throughout his life he also invested in several real estate properties in Wheaton, West Chicago and Florida. In his later years, he thoroughly enjoyed being a realtor in the Dupage County area.

He and Margie attended First Evangelical Free Church for many of their years in Wheaton and then attended Christ Church of Oak Brook and Wheaton Bible Church in their later years together. Cliff enjoyed being part of a church bowling league for many years at First Evan. Free. He also had the privilege of taking an Honor Flight in 2015 to Washington D.C. to be honored along with other individuals who served our country so well. Cliff was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and faithfully loved God, his country, and his family.

He is survived by his wife Margie (Swan) Hopkins; his daughters Heidi (Mark) Seabloom of Wheaton; and Sonja (Chris) Smith of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Ryan (Janae) Seabloom, Tyler (Kinga) Seabloom, and Sean Seabloom; Abigail (Travis) Holcombe, Hannah Grace Smith, Alexander Smith, Andrew Smith; and great grandchildren Emry Seabloom, Cohen Seabloom, and Parker Seabloom. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn daughter Jennifer Hopkins.

Private service and interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL on Friday January 8, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Moody Bible Institute - "Launch a Leader".  Please make checks  payable to Moody Bible Institute, 820 N.
