Clifford A. Hesterman, age 88, a resident of Beacon Hill in Lombard, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born January 30, 1933 in Chicago to Christoph and Eleanor Hesterman.

Cliff grew up in Elmhurst and graduated from York High School. He graduated from Chicago Technical College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He attended Officer Training School in 1953 and served as a pilot in the US Navy. On December 1, 1956, he married Arlene Mueller, whom he knew since childhood.

After his Navy service they moved to Lombard and he worked as an engineer before becoming a full time pilot for TWA in 1964. He retired in 1990.

Cliff enjoyed traveling with his family all around the world. He was very mechanically inclined, working with his hands and building his own airplane. He enjoyed flying, sailing and being at the cottage in Wisconsin. In retirement he enjoyed traveling globally on short term mission trips for Joni and Friends, Lutheran Hour Ministries and World Gospel Outreach.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, three children, Jeffrey (Lynette) Hesterman of Alabama, Beth (the late David) Paluch of Kentucky and Tim (Leslie) Hesterman of Oak Park, nine grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah, Phillip, Julie, David, Lindsay, Nathan, Caroline and Katharine, twelve great-grandchildren and one brother, Duane (the late Bonnie) Hesterman of Glen Ellyn. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Rd., Lombard, IL 60148. Private interment will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
