IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clayton Floyd
Brown
January 14, 1928 – October 17, 2023
Clayton Floyd Brown, age 95, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream and formerly of Wheaton, Mt. Prospect and Chadron, Nebraska, went home to be with Jesus on October 17th. He died at home after a brief illness.
Clayton was the devoted husband for 63 years of the late Charlotte, nee Pascoe. He was the dearly loved father of Steven (Cari) of Wheaton, the late Paula (Donald) Voigt of Palatine, Cynthia (Michael Gagnon) of Kenilworth, and the late Gregory (Marilia) of Palatine. He was also dearly loved by his late brother Ronald (Bea), his sister Marjorie, and his daughter-in-law Sharon. He was the grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of 14.
Clayton received his bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and his MBA from University of Chicago. He served in the Navy on Guam shortly after World War II. He and Charlotte moved from Chadron, Nebraska, to Maywood, IL, when he was offered a job at The Northern Trust Company. He spent his entire career in the municipal bond business in Chicago, eventually forming his own firm, of which he was CEO. He was known as a man of great integrity, and touched the lives of many people. He served as a trustee of Wheaton College for many years, and was on the boards of Dallas Theological Seminary and The Navigators. He was an active member of Compass Church in Wheaton, IL, and enjoyed extensive charitable giving to Christian institutions and ministries.
Clayton will be greatly missed by his entire family, who know that he is in a better place, and is now reunited with his wife Charlotte, his daughter Paula and his son Greg. In his later years he was very much at peace with his future transition to heaven, knowing that it would come when God felt his work on earth was finished. He faithfully supported his family and friends in prayer.
A memorial visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of the celebration of his life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 18th at Compass Church, 520 East Roosevelt Road in Wheaton. Interment will be held privately at Wheaton Cemetery.
