Claudette C.
Nelson
July 8, 1929 – May 21, 2019
Claudette C. Nelson, age 89, was welcomed to her eternal home by her Lord Jesus on May 21, 2019. Born July 8, 1929 to Claude A. and Emily Watkins, Claudette grew up in Kenosha, WI. She moved with her husband's job around the Chicago suburbs, farmed in Oshkosh, WI, then settled in Wheaton, IL. In mid-life, Claudette went back to school, worked as a personal banker, and survived 'terminal' cancer. She traveled, lived with family in California for 8 years, then returned to Wheaton, bought a home, and spent the last 30 years with her kids, grandkids and friends.
Claudette touched many lives, sharing her home and resources, and volunteering often to help others. She wasn't afraid of hard work: painting houses, helping with her daughter's horses, working on family construction projects, landscaping and gardening wherever someone would let her. She was creative and athletic, skilled at waterskiing, snow skiing, and golf.
Moody Radio was special to her and she listened while she worked. She shared the gospel and her love of Christ, knowing the eternal souls of people were of ultimate importance.
Claudette is survived her son, Bradley W. (Brad) and daughter-in-law Elizabeth S. (Betsy) Nelson, three grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica (fiancé Brian), and Matthew, her daughter Pamela A. (Pam) and son-in-law Mark E. Skeels. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude A. and mother Emily Watkins, and her brother Wayne Watkins.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 10, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Cantigny Visitor Center Theater followed by a luncheon at 12:15 P.M. at Cantigny Le Jardin restaurant . (Please tell the gate that you are attending the Claudette Nelson memorial service and the parking fee will be waived.)
