Clarence "Bud" Young, age 96, a resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 19, 2021, in Wheaton, Illinois.  He was born August 8, 1924, in St. Joseph, Michigan to Ward and Esther Young.

Bud attended high school in Bridgman, Michigan and attended Wheaton College in Illinois for ½ year before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1943. Bud served as bomber aircraft repair mechanic in Puglia Italy. In 1945, he returned to Wheaton College to complete his BA in Fine Art.

Bud and Marion met at Scripture Press and married in 1949. In 1952, the couple entered full time missionary service to Japan under the Far Eastern Gospel Crusade.

Bud's primary focus was education, teaching Art, Humanities and Latin at the Christian Academy in Japan (CAJ).

Upon returning to the US in 1970, Bud completed his MFA in Fiber Arts at Northern Illinois University. He later became Chair of the Fine Art Department at Judson College in Elgin, IL. After retiring from academia, Bud and Marion enjoyed many successful years as crafters specializing in country décor. They celebrated 72 years of marriage in April.

Bud's passions included classical music, linguistics, creating architectural glass, oil painting, weaving, singing in Wheaton Bible Church Choir and making sushi.

His sharp wit and a clever sense of humor will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Marion, and his children, Beth Densmore, Rodney (Rea) Young, Nathan (Ruth) Young and Amy (Steve) Horne, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Services will be privately held.
