Christine E. Tews, age 77, of Naperville, IL, passed peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025.  She was born October 30, 1947 in Fort Wayne, IN to Oscar and Elda Albers.

After graduating from Concordia High School (Fort Wayne) in 1965, Chris attended Concordia Jr. College and then Concordia College, River Forest, graduating in 1969 with a B.S. in Secondary Education, majoring in English.  She taught English at Lutheran High School South, Chicago from 1969-1970.  She married Daniel Tews on August 22, 1970.  They lived in Muncie, IN until 1972 when they moved to Wheaton, IL.  After this time, they welcomed into their home their three sons Matthew, Lucas, and Ethan.  Chris worked in medical offices and for British Petroleum (BP) until retiring in 2012.

Both before and after retirement, she loved singing in the church choir, attending Bible Study Fellowship, going to concerts and special events in the Chicagoland area, and spending time with her family and friends.  Chris enjoyed walking every day, reading her Bible and being a welcoming hostess.  She was known to be creative, thoughtful, organized, intelligent, and very friendly, striking up conversations with just about anyone.  She loved to laugh and always seemed to see life from a positive standpoint.  Chris was a beloved wife, mom, sister, grandma, aunt, and friend.  Above all, the most important thing in her life was her love for the Lord.

She is survived by her children, Matthew (Angela) Tews, Lucas Tews, and Ethan (Melissa) Tews; grandchildren Josiah, Timothy, Katelyn, Abigail, Christopher, Joshua, Micah, and Noah; sisters, Jane (Tom) Fields and Teresa Hockemeyer; and brothers Dan Albers, and David (Jill) Albers.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Tews; sisters Kathryn Dowden and Gretchen Breininger; brother-in-law Dennis Hockemeyer; and parents Oscar and Elda.

A visitation will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Road, Lombard, IL on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m.  The service will be livestreamed here: Memorial Service for Christine Tews .The family would like to extend an invitation for continued fellowship with refreshments immediately following the service until 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Peace Lutheran Church to support its global mission work.
