Christian Von Ronn Elges, age 52, a resident of Wheaton, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.  He was born on March 3, 1969 in Denver, Colorado to William & Janice Elges.

Chris lived in Wisconsin and Florida before arriving in Illinois in 1977 where he spent the rest of his childhood. He graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1987. After high school he served in the United States Army in Fort Knox, Kentucky and overseas in Germany. Following his service in the military, Chris continued a valuable career in law enforcement and security management. He proudly served on the Wheaton Police Department and provided security to private facilities such as Hilton Hotels in downtown Chicago, Illinois and San Jose, California. Upon his return from California, Chris was involved in relocation with All Chicagoland United.

Chris was a selfless, compassionate and generous person. He was always willing to help others before helping himself. During his time at the Wheaton Police Department he encountered a family in need and brought them meals after his shift. While working at the Hilton Hotel, he befriended a homeless person on the street and provided him with a coat, gloves & hat for the cold winter. Chris spent several months on the East Coast after Hurricane Sandy and worked to help families with their insurance recovery, security and restoration processes. He also spent time in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, checking in on hotel properties. Furthermore he was deeply interested in helping the local population affected by the hurricane.

Chris had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around. He had a magical way with children. He had a special relationship with his eleven year old nephew, Luke. Him and Luke would spend hours around the bonfire cooking burgers or hot dogs, but also enjoyed good conversation together. They spent time fishing together which Chris genuinely adored. Chris treated those moments as valuable teaching moments to Luke.
Chris devoted many years to treasured companion and best friend Annie.
He is survived by his mother, Janice; his brothers Mark, Rodd (Joy) and Erick; and his nephew, Luke.

He was preceded in death by his father, William.

Interment with Military Honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois on Chris' birthday, Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 12:00 Noon. Visitors are welcome to attend.
