Obituary

Chester Midura, age 92, a resident of Wheaton since 1952, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born on June 27, 1921 in Chicago to John and Anna Midura.

Chet graduated from Morton High School in 1939. He served in the US Navy as a Seabee, working in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Throughout his career he worked as a carpenter, builder and remodeler. He was known as a problem solver and was mechanically gifted.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wheaton since 1952, where he served as a trustee, Sunday School teacher, worked with Boy's Brigade and AWANA. He especially enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife in their recreational vehicle. Gardening was one of his pleasures as well as was antiquing and collecting. He enjoyed fixing up cars, could fix anything and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sally Midura, four children, Greg Midura of Wheaton, Linda (Howard) Carstensen of Wheaton, Tim Midura of Wheaton, and Keith Midura of Mishawaka, IN, three step-children, Pam Fijolek of Carol Stream, Jamie (Dan) Jones of West Chicago, and Brad (Diana) Sheehan of Colorado Springs, CO, seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Jesse, Megan, Jacob, Sarah, Nathaniel, and Amanda, five step-grandchildren, Matt, Miriam, Brian, Paige and Lauren, four great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Keagan, Kinley, and Whitaker, one step-great-grandaughter, Emma, one brother, Walter (Alexa) Midura of MN and one sister, Lorraine Taylor of Northbrook.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 40 years, Irene in 1983, his parents John and Anna Midura, and his siblings, Wanda McLenahan, Edward Midura, and Virginia Descher.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, December 9, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be held privately at Wheaton Cemetery.
