Cheryl Mahoney, 73, of Glen Ellyn, IL went to live with her Lord and savior on May 28, 2022, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Cheri was born on August 25, 1948, to Gus and Grayce Fridstrom in Chicago, IL. At Maine South High School, Cheri befriended a classmate Michael, whom she would later marry. After graduating from Maine South in 1966, Cheri went on to earn a BA from Taylor University and an M.Ed. from University of Oklahoma. She taught math at Rand Junior High School, and later taught math and Bible at Wheaton Christian Grammar School. While teaching there, Cheri was awarded the ACSI Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2009. She retired in 2014 after 21 years at the school.

Cheri and Mike raised two children, Kelly and Tracy, and Cheri was actively involved in their activities as a PTA president, softball coach, and AWANA leader. She also volunteered countless hours with the B.R. Ryall swim team. She was an avid lover of game shows, and once competed on the 80s classic show Scrabble with Chuck Woolery. But her favorite pastime was watching the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, Cheri lived by a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Her life verse was Philippians 1:6: "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Cheri was predeceased by her parents Gustav Fridstrom and Grayce Fridstrom. She is survived by her husband Michael; her daughters Kelly (Christian) Jahng and Tracy (Gus) Arceo; her grandchildren Nathan, Emilia, Isaac, and Lucy; her sister Donna (James) Lindell, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave, West Chicago, IL 60185, on Wednesday, June 8th, with a visitation at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wheaton Christian Grammar School , Wheaton Bible Church , or The Midwest Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association .
