Charlotte Roena Almond, age 91, a resident of Warrenville, IL, died March 10, 2013, of natural causes. She was born January 17, 1922 in Carthage, SD.
Charlotte was the daughter of Upton and Alta Collinson. She grew up on a farm near Tama, IA. Some of her fondest memories were of her childhood on the farm. In addition to being a wife and mother, Charlotte was a Kindergarten teacher for forty years. In her retirement she enjoyed many church and volunteer activities. In her later years she enjoyed baby sitting her great-granddaughters, who benefited from her many talents, including making homemade Play-dough, creating numerous elaborate handmade costumes, and spending hours of quality time together.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Lisa) Almond of Yorba Linda, CA; her daughter, Charlene (Lee) Rutledge of Sugar Grove, IL; granddaughter, Lisa (Carmen) Gaspero of Warrenville, IL; grandson, Scott Almond of Yorba Linda, CA; five great-granddaughters, Evangelina, Isabella, Gabriella, Raffaella and Ariadne Gaspero, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Almond; two brothers, Harland Collinson, Marvin Collinson; and her twin sister, Charlene Ruth Collinson.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Irene Church, 28W441 Warrenville Rd, in Warrenville, IL. Interment will follow at Warrenville Cemetery in Warrenville, IL.
