Charles Edward Schmidt, age 84, a resident of Wheaton for 56 years, died on Monday, January 1, 2012 in Wheaton. He was born on December 11, 1927 in Royalton, IL to Edward and Mina Schmidt.

Mr. Schmidt was president of Parker, Schmidt and Tucker Paper Company. He was an active member and Lodge Organist of Wheaton Lodge #269 AF & AM, Amity Lodge #472 AF & AM, and Fox Valley Chapter #265 OES. He was also a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ and Melody Makers Organ Club. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bridge player.

Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carole, his children, Kim (Jim) Rosander, Erica (Alvaro) Esparza, Julie Mategrano (Rick Hunt), Charles Brian (Nancy Marsch), Roxanne (Mark) Roberts, and Pamela (Bob Trinco), 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald D. Schmidt and his parents.

Visitation will be held on Wed., Jan. 4, from 3 until 9 pm and Thurs. from 11 to 12 noon at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, Wheaton, where a funeral will be held on Thurs. at 12 noon.
