Obituary

Our dad, everyone called him Chuck, was born in Chicago in 1926 and grew up on Oakley Ave. He went to what was then Harrison High School, graduating and enlisting in the Army Air Forces, becoming a Tec5 as a machinist.  He was honorably discharged after the war and went on to a 40 plus year career as a master tool and die maker.  He met our mom at a neighborhood "social", married in 1949, had 2 children and moved to the "countryside" near Glen Ellyn, where at the time, there were farms about.  Dad built our house, he literally swung a hammer.  He was able to do, or to fix, anything.  He enjoyed fishing his whole life, tied his own flies and made his own jigs.  He was an active member of the Wheaton Rifle Club where he coached youth target shooters for many, many years.  Dad had an adventurous nature and after successfully getting his two children through college he and mom learned to scuba dive in Bonaire, dove in the Caymans, and sailed in the British Virgin Islands.

Dad was a boy scout troop leader, a Pony League assistant coach, … all the things anyone might imagine a dad would be.  He and mom, were the best parents children could hope to have.  They are terribly missed, and we can't help but feel the world is a little bit worse for their passing.  But, dad had a kind of never-ending optimism that only someone who grew up during the great depression and WWII could really understand, and he would want everyone to just remember the good times and carry on.  He is survived by: his son Dave and his wife Cindy; his daughter Carol and her husband Jim Bradley.   He is also survived by: his grandson Christopher and his wife Jennifer; his grandson Jason and his wife Kathryn; and his great grandchildren Ben, Harper and Sam.  Dad was preceded in death by our mom, his wife of 48 years, Dolores Faletti Lenzi.
