Obituary

Charles "Chuck" L. Snail, aged 90, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2015 at Central Du Page Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born in Saint Joseph, MO to parents James B. and Carrie (nee Spears) Snail on July 5, 1924.

He attended Kansas State University to study Electrical Engineering, but was drafted in 1943 after one semester, leading to his deployment with the US Army to the Pacific theater. After returning from World War II, he married Jane M. Will on June 22, 1947 and relocated to Manhattan, KS where he completed his Electrical Engineering degree at Kansas State. He was then employed by Line Material Corporation, and when he retired from Cooper Industries in 1988 he was a senior apparatus engineer supporting 15 sales engineers that were located in 13 Midwestern states. Chuck was an avid genealogist and he loved to read, fix things, listen to jazz and garden. With his camera constantly, he took many photos of family, friends and colleagues, and he knew how to throw a good party.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jane (nee Will) Snail; daughter Lynne (Scott) Davis; sons Keith, Mark, Daniel (Estela) and Timothy (Shaonan); eight grandchildren Olivia and Christopher Davis, Melanie, Gregory, Andrew, Peter Russell, Timothy Zheng "TZ" and Patrick; and brother Lawrence.
