Obituary

Charles "Pete" Burandt, age 79, a resident of Glen Ellyn for 57 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 13, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born December 16, 1934 in Chicago to Carl and Evelyn Burandt.

Chuck attended Schurz High School in Chicago and graduated from Bensenville High School. He started his own landscaping business while in high school. He married Kathleen Connelly on May 18, 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1960 in Middletown, CT, where their son was born. They moved to Glen Ellyn where he worked for five years for Fisher Body in Willow Springs as a draftsman. He spent the remainder of his career as a proud Local 558 Union Carpenter for many years.

His passion was gardening and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family and his black Labrador Retrievers.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, four children, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Burandt of Lake Villa, Charles Burandt of Chicago, Christine Burandt of Mt. Morris, and Erin Burandt of Lombard, six grandchildren, Katie Guzzo, Shannon Burandt, Jonathan Burandt, Cody Burandt, Danielle Mortell and Meaghan Burandt, and two great-grandaughters, Ashley Bugbee and Addison Berg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond "Skip" Giese.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Community Church, 764 St. Charles Rd., Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
