Carrie F. Benedict Sugrue VanBerschot, age 48, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at her home. She was born Tuesday, March 14, 1961 in Evergreen Park, IL.
Carrie was a full time mom. Her children and family were her true passion in life. She was very involved in many volunteer organizations. Carrie was deeply devoted to her faith. You could often find Carrie at her church, late at night, keeping vigil with her Lord.
One of Carrie's many joys included her career as a pastry chef. Carrie believed in living in the moment, enjoying every day and celebrating life to the fullest. Despite her illness she continued to pursue her "Bucket List".
Survived by her children, Jake, Christie and Dana Sugrue and Courtney VanBerschot; husband, Eric VanBerschot; mother, Lois Frances Benedict of Glen Ellyn; sisters, Cheryl Benedict, Colleen Newkirk, Cynthia LeBeau, Christine (Lynn) Smith, Cecilia (Daryl) Paddock, Celeste (Guy) Powell, Claudia (David) Brazier, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, Ross Donald Benedict.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N Main in Wheaton. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 25, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 315 W. Illinois St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow the service at St. Michael Cemetery on Warrenville Road in Wheaton.
