With profound sadness and a deep sense of loss, we mark the passing of Carol Sewell, a cherished soul whose life was a testament to nurturing, joy, and unwavering dedication. Born in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois on June 20, 1954, Carol’s journey came to a peaceful close at home on May 4, 2026.

Carol was a woman whose heart was rooted in care and compassion. Her life’s work was not measured by titles or accolades, but by the love she lavished as a devoted homemaker and as a trusted caregiver to the neighborhood children she so dearly embraced. Those who knew her will remember a woman who found fulfillment in the simple, yet profound, acts of kindness—ensuring that every child she watched over felt safe, loved, and valued.

Though not renowned for athletic prowess, Carol’s spirit of participation and joy was showcased one memorable summer during a neighborhood block party. In a rare and surprising moment, she donned a pair of gym shoes to play football alongside the children. This singular event remains etched in memory, a delightful glimpse into her willingness to embrace life’s playful moments with an open heart.

Carol’s personality was a radiant light to all fortunate enough to cross her path. She relished hearing the stories of everyone’s day, her presence marked by a warmth that welcomed confidences and shared joys alike. Her laugh, joyous and infectious, uplifted the spirits of those around her, creating a melody of happiness that lingered long after she spoke.

Beyond her daily interactions, Carol was a woman of reflection and order. Her passion for journaling her thoughts allowed her to navigate life with introspection and care, while her meticulous scheduling illustrated a mind that balanced discipline with grace. These hobbies were not mere pastimes, but extensions of a woman devoted to living with intention and mindfulness.

Carol took great pride in raising a son, Jason Sewell, whom she saw grow into a hard-working man, and an intelligent and kind grandson, Jacob Sewell. These achievements stood as pillars of her life’s greatest joys, her love woven deeply into the fabric of their characters. She is also fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law, Tabitha Sewell, who shared in the family’s love and life.

Her family circle extended further to include her sisters, Barbara Aquino, Christine Pacelli, and Kathleen Moffatt, each a connection to Carol’s roots and shared history as well as a large number of nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. Though her beloved husband of over 50 years, Richard Sewell, and brothers Steven and Michael Moffatt, as well as her parents Christopher and Eva Moffatt, have preceded her in death, their memories form the foundation of the enduring legacy she leaves behind.

While we mourn Carol’s departure, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she led—a life marked by gentle strength, heartfelt laughter, and an abiding commitment to the well-being of others. As we reflect upon her years, may her memory inspire us to embrace kindness with equal warmth and to cherish the simple joys of life as she so beautifully did.

Carol Sewell’s journey has ended, but her spirit remains a guiding light in the hearts of her family and friends, forever cherished, forever remembered.
