Obituary

Carol Ann Miller (Schaedler) was called to be with her Savior on March 3rd, 2023. She passed to peace in her Savior's arms at home in Downers Grove, Illinois after a battle with breast cancer.

Carol was born in Adrian Michigan on December 28th, 1942 to Kenneth and Rhea Schaedler. She grew up in Blissfield Michigan, the eldest of 4 children. Her siblings regarded her as a loving and nurturing big sister at the heart of her family and extensive extended family. She was a 1961 graduate of Blissfield High School where she excelled at music, was selected to attend the 1959 National Music Camp at Interlochen, MI, and cultivated a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts.

Carol committed her career to caring for others and studied social work at Michigan State University, and was proud to have served as a hostess for the 1964 Adventure in World Understanding conference. Graduating in 1965 she served as a social worker in Chicago, Detroit and Toledo.

She met and married David C. Miller on October 20, 1967 and raised three sons, Aaron (Toledo, OH 1970), Nathan (Alpena, MI 1973) and Jeremy (Redford, MI 1978). In 1980 the family moved to Downers Grove, IL were she and David remained in their much-loved Chicago brick bungalow on Maple Avenue. She was constantly active teaching music, coaching forensic speaking, organizing and volunteering for WELS Lutherans for Life pregnancy counseling center and participating in local concert and church music groups. She loved the beauty of nature and sharing the outdoors with family and friends.

In 1994 Carol earned a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Concordia University Chicago and continued her social work career as a specialist in infant mental health and family counseling to which she remained dedicated professionally and voluntarily throughout the rest of her life.

Carol will be remembered for her dedication to loving, connecting and caring for family, friends and all she contacted, but most for her zeal for sharing the peace of God through her Lord and Savior Jesus in which she now rests.
