Obituary

Carol J. Locke, age 67, of Holland, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. She was born on September 11, 1948 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Mark and Muriel Dunkerton as the oldest of 2 daughters. Her sister Nancy was born 3 years later.

When Carol was a child she gave her life to the Lord and followed Him faithfully ever since. Carol was characterized by love for her Lord, her family and others. She was thoughtful, giving, kind, compassionate, courageous, persistent, a faithful friend, prayer warrior and lover of God's Word.

Carol married James C. Locke on June 26, 1971. They recently celebrated their 45th anniversary. For 25 years they resided in Silver Spring, Maryland where Carol worked at their local church (Forcey Bible Church) in church administration, coordinated the church's missions program, played the piano and organ, and sang in the church choir. Carol had one son, Brooks D. Locke, born on November 20, 1976.

In 2002, Carol moved with Jim to Holland, Ohio. She has been active playing the piano and participating in a women's Bible study at their church, Stonebridge E.P. Church in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Carol had the gift of hospitality and loved to invite family and friends into her home. She was devoted to her large extended Dunkerton family, praying for all of them on a regular basis. She was a wonderful cook, loved to sew and do needlepoint, and had a heart for missions. She was a wonderful listener. She was a quality person and lived a quality life. She overcame complicated challenges due to her 58 years as a diabetic. Carol fought the good fight and has finished her race. A crown of righteousness is awaiting her in heaven.

She is survived by her husband, James of Holland, OH; her son, Brooks (Susan) of Wheaton, IL; her grandchildren, Jillian, Elliott, Erin, Andrew and Garrett; and her sister, Nancy (John) of Fuquay-Varina, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. until the start of a funeral service to be held at 11:30 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
