Carol Nelson Johnson, age 81, daughter of the late William Arndt and Evelyn Martinson Nelson and a resident of Wheaton, Illinois died November 17, 2011.

She was graduated from DePauw University where she was very active in student affairs. Her strong interest in the affairs of DePauw continued after graduation and it resulted in her being honored by the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association for her services to the University. Upon graduation she began a business career as an employee of Marshall Field and Company. She thereafter joined Continental Bank and after its merger with Bank of America, became an officer of the merged banks in its Human Resources Department. During her business career she continued her participation in various cure organizations. Among them the Guild of Central DuPage Hospital.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara (William) Nelson Forrest; a niece, Carol Finberg; and nephew, Alex Forrest.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wendell Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Interment will be private at Acacia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alumni Association of DePauw University, Greencastle, IN.
