Carol J. Hansen, age 85, a resident of Downers Grove, IL since 1968, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2019, after a short illness.  She was born April 8, 1934 in Chicago to Orville and Esther Egeland.

Carol went to Wright Junior College where she met Jerry Hansen.  They were married on June 15, 1962.  She went on to earn a teaching degree from Wheaton College.  She taught school for several years in Des Plaines, IL.

She was a member of the WSIW Golf League in Downers Grove for 35 years where she remained active up through this year.  She was a member of LaGrange Bible Church where she served in Pioneer Clubs and Women's Bible Studies.  She also was involved with water classes at Good Samaritan health and wellness center.

Her love for people and music pulled her into a ministry of hand bells.  Everyone could participate.  She would travel to nursing homes, churches and other places with her sets of multi colored bells.  "Don't touch the clackers!"

She had a love for travel and far away places.  When her husband Jerry retired, they began to travel a few times each year and went most places around the world.  If you asked her about a place, she would remember everything about that place from first hand experience.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hansen, two children, Eric (Kelly) Hansen of Burr Ridge and Sharon (Larry) Hime of Olive Branch, Mississippi, three grandchildren, Cori and Kenna Hansen and Becky Hime. She is also survived by two sisters, Marlene (Tom) Barcanic and Marilyn (Ron) Swanson and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jerry Egeland.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2019, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines, Illinois.
