IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Warren
Carr
December 12, 1933 – September 18, 2022
Carol Warren Carr, 88, a long-time Clarendon Hills resident, died peacefully on September 18, 2022, in Carol Stream, IL. Carol is survived by her sister, Janet Potts, and three children: Karen (Mark) Furlong of Downers Grove, IL, Randy (Lily) Carr of Wabash, IN, and Jean (Kurt) Vachlon of Lombard, IL as well as her beloved grandchildren: Maria Vachlon, Nicole Vachlon, Thomas Carr and Amy Carr. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, James; and her sister, Jean Sessions.
Carol was born to Gordon and Carol Warren on December 12, 1933, in Port Huron, Michigan. She described her childhood as "idyllic," living and playing on the Port Huron Michigan beaches with her sisters Janet and Jean. Her family moved to La Grange, Illinois before her freshman year of high school. It was there that she met her future husband. Carol would quip she dated five "Jims" between high school and college before settling on Jim Carr. They were married between their Junior and Senior years at DePauw University.
Carol was a cheerful and spunky woman who cherished her friends and family and was always considerate and caring for the feelings of others. She kept a very busy schedule between family, friends, church, and a broad range of interests. She was an avid reader and loved classical music, always an active choir and bell choir member at church and at Windsor Park. She was a fierce tennis and pickleball player and played the latter until just weeks before her death.
Carol was a devoted wife and mother, with a deep love of her faith and of Jesus Christ. Throughout their married life she and Jim were active members of Hinsdale Covenant Church, a home away from home, where they established deep, lifelong friendships. Carol's friends often commented on her ability to quietly work behind the scenes, taking care of business and supporting others in their roles. Her genuine laugh, gentle care and supportive friendship will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
A memorial to celebrate Carol's life will be held at Covenant Living at Windsor Park on October 11, 2022, at 10:30 am. Her burial will be a private family service at Lyonsville Cemetery, Indian Head Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Covenant Living Windsor Park Benevolence Fund would be appreciated.
