Obituary

Carnelia Badgett Nolen, age 86, a former resident of Jackson, MS, died Friday, February 9 at the Oakbrook Healthcare Center in Oakbrook, Illinois. She was born on October 25, 1920 near Pinola, MS to Sylvester and Laura Badgett.

Carnelia was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Jackson State University, where she recieved a Masters Degree. She worked as a teacher in the Jackson Public Schools for 40 years.

She is survived by two sons, James (Linda) Lee of Lorain, OH, and Roland (Terrie) Nolen of Wheaton, IL, eight grandchildren, Terry, Ronda, Kiesha, Yolanda, Lenore, Mallory, Rayna, and Nicolette, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Pecola Cooper of Jackson, and a niece and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Herdesine Robinson, her parents and her brother, S.J. Badgett.

Services will be held in Jackson, Mississippi.
