Carl "Bert" Johnson age 78, a resident of Schiller Park for 47 years, died Thursday, October 28 at the Ressurection Medical Center in Chicago. He was born on February 21, 1926 in Chicago to Carl and Thyra Johnson.
Bert worked for Continental Can Company for 40 years. He was a very active member of Midwest Bible Church for over 50 years where he served as an elder, taught Sunday School, and was an AWANA leader. For many years he served as Chairman of Board of Directors at Phantom Ranch Bible Camp in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. He was also an accomplised wood carver.
He is survive by his wife of 56 years Marilyn, nee Matson, three children, Jim Johnson of Bavabro, WI, Judy Johnson of Des Plaines, Bill (Tammie) Johnson of Round Lake, IL, four grandsons, Peter, Will, Dan, and Erik, and a cousin, Bea Clauson of Morton Grove. He is also survived by many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sun., Oct. 31, from 3:00 until the time of service at 7:00 at Midwest Bible Church, 3441 N. Cicero, Chicago. Interment will take place on Monday, at 10:30 at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.
