Carl R. Bode, 63, passed away suddenly on March 5, 2010. He was born on August 29, 1946 in Lancaster, OH and has been a Winfield resident since 1979. He was raised in Niles, OH and graduated from Ohio University in 1968 with a degree in business administration.
He was a loyal employee of CNA for 35 years. He served as a Life Sales Representative, Estate and Business Planning Consultant, and Pension Consultant. He earned the Chartered Life Underwriting and Chartered Financial Consulting designations. Carl was also an entrepreneur having opened and operated an independent insurance agency.
Carl enjoyed riding his bicycle on the prairie path and taking long motorcycle rides out to DeKalb to see friends. He enjoyed working on many projects with his children.
Carl will be remembered for his love for his family and friends, for his servant's heart, and for his sense of humor. Carl was a dedicated servant of Jesus Christ at Faith Baptist Church in Winfield, IL serving in the roles of Commander and Director of AWANA clubs for 21 years. He greeted church families with a friendly smile and handshake for 30 years as an usher and also served as a deacon.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Linda; his children, Bryan (Leighann), Paul (Lori), and Julie; his brother, Glen (Joanne) Bode. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Glen, and his mother, Irma.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Hultgren Funeral Home, Wheaton, IL from 3:30-5:30 and 6:30-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Faith Baptist Church in Winfield, IL.
