Candace M. Shannon, age 55, a resident of Wheaton for 30 years, died Friday, July 7 at the Central Du Page Hospital in Winfield. She was born on June 30, 1951 in Elmhurst to Alfred and Marcelle King.
She graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1969. She married Christopher Shannon on March 16, 1970. Candy was a founding member of the Wheaton Historic Preservation Council and was instrumental in completing the Colvin House which is now the Center For History in Wheaton. After the death of her mother, she took over Stagecoach Antiques in Glen Ellyn with her sister Robin Frank. For a short period of time she also ran Candy's Cozy Corner.
Surviving are her husband, Christopher; two daughters, Shelley Shannon of Wheaton and Megan Shannon of Kenosha, WI; and her sister, Robin Frank of Glen Ellyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 1 until 2 p.m.
