Obituary

Dr. Brett C. Foster, age 42, a resident of Wheaton, IL since 2005, died Monday, November 9, 2015, at home. He was born April 9, 1973 in Wichita, KS.

Brett was an English Professor at Wheaton College . He earned Bachelor Degrees in English and Journalism at the University of Missouri where he met the love of his life, Anise Mathis. He then received a Masters Degree in English at Boston University and his Ph.D. in English at Yale University. He was also a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. During these years he became a father to his much loved children, Avery and Gus. He was an avid collector of English Literature and Poetry books and was an honored and respected poet himself. He enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends, and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Anise; two beloved children, Avery and Gus; his mother, Suzanne Foster McClemens; his mother-in-law, Sharie (Carlos) del Rio; and his father-in-law, Jerry (Sally) Mathis. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Foster.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 3-9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Pierce Chapel , on the campus of Wheaton College, 501 College Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
