Bonnie Parisek, age 61, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, departed this life on Sunday, October 20, 2019. She was born November 24, 1957 in Elgin to Robert Sr. and Ruth Parisek.
Bonnie grew up in West Chicago and graduated from Elgin High School. She earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from Wheaton College and then earned a second Master's Degree from Northern IL University. She taught in District 200 for her entire career, retiring five years ago. For many years she taught First Grade at Emerson Elementary School and Longfellow Elementary School in Wheaton, also teaching English as a Second Language. One summer she taught English in China. In retirement she served as the Parish Life Coordinator at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in Warrenville up until the time of her death. Her Christian service has always been central in her life. She loved teaching children the Gospel of Christ and the stories of the Bible. She was actively engaged in the work of Warrenville Persons in Ministry. She enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and the Blackhawks and enjoyed getting together with other retired teachers from District 200.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Parisek, her brother, Robert Jr. (Jeanne) Parisek of South Carolina, and niece, Lauren and nephew, Ryan. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert and her grandparents.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Christian Church, 28W770 Warrenville Road, Warrenville, IL 60555, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019 at 3:30 p.m.
Interment will be held on Monday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church Memorial Fund. www.htaoc.com
