Obituary

Bonnie L. Moller, age 73, a resident of Anthology of Wheaton, passed away October 7, 2020 at home. She was born June 10, 1947 in Elgin, Illinois to Haakon & Ingrid Moller.

Bonnie Luana Moller grew up as the youngest of three in Fox River Grove, Illinois, near the banks of the Fox River. In the summers she swam in the river and in the winters she enjoyed ice skating. When Bonnie was 9 years old, she and her family each made the decision to follow the Lord Jesus throughout their lives. From the age of ten, Bonnie enjoyed summers at Christian camps. As she grew older, she worked on the camp staff.

Bonnie received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois. She then taught fourth grade at a Fox River Grove school for several years. During this time, she enjoyed world travel and camping. After a year of completing an advanced studies program at Moody Bible Institute, she left for Taiwan at the age of 29 to be a missionary with The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM). Bonnie taught at missionary schools for many years in both Taiwan and later Macau. She also taught Chinese/English Bible classes and helped local churches with music and teaching in Taiwan, Singapore, and Macau. She loved singing and playing the harmonica, guitar, and electric autoharp. She retired from Macau in 2012, after 34 years of serving in Asia with TEAM. One of Bonnie's favorite Bible passages was Psalms 139: 9-10: "If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."

Bonnie retired to Washington, IL, and then Rockford, IL, and finally, to Wheaton, IL. While in Washington and Rockford, Bonnie enjoyed friendships with Chinese Christians while attending Chinese churches, and continuing to use her Mandarin language.

Bonnie's testimony was: "My Lord is faithful, loving, strong and true. He is my living Savior, my comfort and hope. Being in Christ, obeying and serving Him, gives me joy, peace and love—now and eternally. I am so thankful that God chose me, called me at an early age to be a member of His family, and to have the honor and privilege of knowing and serving Him."

She is survived by her sister Annette (the late Gordon) Biggar; her sister-in-law Nancy Moller; and her nieces & nephews: David (Alice) Biggar, Marsha (Paul) Chiang, Daniel Biggar, Matthew (Angie) Moller, Marcie (Mark) Neher, Melanie (Henry) Nichols, Mia (John) Cantone and Mark (Suzanne) Moller. Also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by her brother Dennis and her parents.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Arlington Memorial Park in Rockford, Illinois.
