Bill C. Bowman, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly of Darien and Westchester, died Friday, May 22, 2009. He was born on December 13, 1918 in St. Louis, Missouri to Glenn R. and Edna B. Bowman.
Bill was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked for many years as a printer for Swift and Company and at the Chicago Tribune at Merrill. He was a member of the West Suburban Lapidary Club and taught lapidary and silver smithing in Elmhurst and at Windsor Park. He was a member of the Westchester Community Church. He enjoyed oil painting, traveling and singing in the Men's Chorus at Windsor Park.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen L. Bowman, two sons, Bruce R. (Kathy) Bowman of Eden Prairie, MN, and Ronald C. Bowman of Carol Stream, two granddaughters, Kristy (Eric) Winegarner and Kary Bowman, and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Winegarner.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2 to 5 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 10 A.M. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream. Interment is private at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
