Beverly Stubbs, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Community Nursing Home in Naperville, Illinois, Thursday, June 18, 2015. Beverly was a resident of Wheaton, Illinois since 1979.
Beverly was born November 8, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Kansas. She was the first of two daughters born to John and Ruth Citron.
Beverly grew up in Wichita and graduated from Friends University School of Music. There she dated and eventually wed her future husband, William (Bill) Stubbs. They were married on January 13, 1951 and enjoyed a loving and faithful partnership until 2006 when Bill died suddenly.
In 1952, Linda, the couple's only child was born in Wichita. The family remained there until their move to Chicago in 1964 due to Bill's work. They initially settled in Lombard, and subsequently moved to Wheaton, where Beverly remained until she went into senior care living, just two years ago.
Beverly was primarily a housewife and Mother. She enthusiastically supported her husband's career, even during times of extensive business travel. In fact, once their daughter was raised, Beverly enjoyed accompanying Bill and the pair traveled frequently. Her favorite destinations were Disneyworld & Hawaii. In addition, Beverly had a love and talent of music and she taught private piano lessons out of her home for a span of nearly 30 years. Her students participated in annual recitals, which were a great joy. Beverly channeled her musical gifts to literally hundreds of students.
When Beverly's grandchildren were young, she spent countless hours enjoying her role as a Grandmother. She and Bill were both very invested in their well-being and had a special fondness for their family.
Beverly was also an excellent seamstress, avid reader, and exceptional hostess. Family, friends and business colleagues were always welcomed into her home. She grew up in the Golden Age of Hollywood Movies 30's, 40's 50's and became an avid movie fan. As a teenager (thru letter writing campaigns) she was able to secure and archive a fair amount of autographs from many of the era's Hollywood greats. She was a "movie buff" all her life, even until the end.
Bill and Beverly were both active members of College Church in Wheaton where they made many friendships. There, she and Bill enjoyed their role as greeters and participated in various small groups, church functions and mission trips.
Beverly is survived by her only daughter, Linda (Brant) Dolan, of Naperville, Illinois and her only beloved sibling, Sharon Sivertson of Rochester, Minnesota. Her legacy line continues with her two grandchildren Stacy (Jonathan) Peterson, and Eric (Kera) Dolan. (Both couples now in California) Followed by a host of nieces and nephews, and three great grandchildren: Drake Peterson (1/31- 2/3/2012), Jaxon Peterson (2013) and Emilia Peterson born this April 6, 2015.
Visitation with the family will be this Saturday, June 27th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, Illinois (304 North Main St.). Following will be a brief noon service held at the funeral home with Todd Augustine of College Church. Interment will be at the Wheaton Cemetery.
