Betty Jean Leif, age 80, a resident of Bloomingdale, IL since 1988, died on Friday, August 10 2012, at her daughter's home with her family by her side. She was born in Chicago on August 5,1932 to Knute and Gertrude Leaf.

She graduated from Lake View High School in 1951. In her spare time Betty could be found bowling or golfing, and traveling all over the United States for bowling tournaments. Betty retired in 2009 after her double knee replacement. She enjoyed her monthly card club, going to the movies and casinos. She was an outgoing person who made friends easily and had a great sense of humor. She leaves behind her beloved dog Mr. Chips.

She is survived by her son, Dean (Bree) Blumer; her daughter, Jeanne (John) Bell; four grandchildren, Kelly (Aaron) Cardwell, Jessi (Mike) Cole, Christopher Bell, and Kyle (Malia) Blumer; three great-grandchildren, Ava and Hudson Cardwell, and Hayden Blumer; and her brother, Raymond (Ruth) Leaf.

She was also a special sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many. She will be especially missed by her mother-in-law, Petronella Blumer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ernie.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service to be held at 6:30 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be private at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia, IL.
