Betty Clouston Greer, age 89, passed away on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016, at Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona with family by her side. Betty was born on January 20th, 1927 to Grace Markman and Walter Ralph Clouston.

Betty grew up in Chicago and Wheaton, Illinois graduating from Wheaton High School. Following high school, she went on to graduate from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. Betty met her husband of 61 years, Jack P. Greer, at Knox and they were married on April 9th, 1949. Upon graduation, Betty started her teaching career at Whittier Elementary School in Wheaton. Jack's 36 year career with Hyster Company led them to reside in the states of Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Oregon.

Betty and Jack spent their retirement years in Scottsdale, Arizona and Sunriver, Oregon. They were avid golfers and members of Arizona Country Club and founding members of Crosswater Country Club, Sunriver, OR. Betty was a life long member of her college sorority, Tri Delta, and was actively involved for many years. She also was active with Paradise Valley Methodist's senior group. Betty and Jack enjoyed traveling the world together.

She is survived by her daughter, Gale Lou Greer of Gig Harbor, WA, and her son, Russell Jack (Cathy) Greer of Newport Beach, CA, along with her four grandchildren, Shelby (Mathew) Lidstrom, Spencer (Elizabeth) Myers, Jenna (Kevin) Rice and Carly (fiancé Cody) Greer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 2011.

Betty's greatest joy was her family and her long enduring marriage. She loved being Nana to her grandchildren, supporting enthusiastically every thing they loved to do and taking an active interest in their lives. Her sense of humor kept us entertained for hours. She was the life of the party and instantly made friends with strangers. You could often find Betty with a beloved dachshund in her lap while she read a good book. Her family will feel a big hole where she used to reside in our family. We will miss her dearly.

A private burial will be held at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
