Betty Jane Armstrong, 89 years old, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was born on June 22, 1936 in Moline, Illinois to Fred and Esther Duncan.

Daughter, sister, wife, homemaker, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother, Betty was well-loved and cherished by her family. She, along with her husband Matt, raised four rambunctious boys who were at times, locked out of the house until they emptied their pockets of snakes and other critters, except for the time she raised a baby raccoon.

Within her Baptist church family, she was known as the baby whisperer, working for many years in the nursery on Sunday evenings. Her sweet spirit and calm presence along with her sparkly and frequently silly nature charmed not only the babies, but all who had the privilege of spending time with her. She enjoyed Hallmark movies, puzzles, the dollar store, and especially Christmas which included yearly silly string fights.

She is survived by her brother Lloyd, her children Tom, Terry (Ruth), Mark (LaRea), daughter-in-law Kara, her grandchildren Thomas, Joshua, Angela, Barbara, Emily, Isaac, Marin, Rachel, Megan, Erica, Kristina, and Melissa; her great grandchildren Emric, Cora, Tommy, Elaina, Eden, Cody, Conner, Jonathan, and Bentley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Matt, son Tim, and her siblings Jim, Paul, Charlotte, and Reva.

A celebration of life is planned for the near future.
